Bizzaro World

Barkatullah Marwat

Now I feel the world is turning out to be a ‘Bizzaro World’ where up is down, truth is a lie, and “democracy” means rule by a self-appointed elite. Because when you look around you will find thousands of unnatural, unsocial, unpolitical, uneconomical, unethical etiquettes being practiced in the name of new laws, development, progress and prosperity.

Man is losing his peace faster than ever before. He is now in unrest situations. He is either running in competition with his neighbour or stranger. The metabolic process is going on both physically and environmentally simultaneously. To accumulate wealth, wealth and wealth he is set to go or fall to any extent, you just name it.

Some are running and managing huge empires of business, making money either by hook or by crook while some have developed and devised new ways of earning wealth.

As regards war, it is also now considered as one of the shortest and easiest way of getting your interests provided that you have a gun like a daylight robber with a gun looting as many people on his way as he wishes. Sometimes he just fires at some of them justifying it as a pre-emptive act.

Let’s view it in a broader perspective, one can see currently Bush who has been warning, threatening, striking, invading and bombing sovereign countries. By the way, the word ‘sovereignty’ means perhaps one being unable to resist external aggression like what the whole world witnessed in the case of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Relatively I may not be so well-informed as I am living thousands of miles away from the White House but at least those who are moving around and peeping through its windows are comparatively knowledgeable. And whatever they see they simply pass on to us through the electronic, print media and Internet and that’s how we are able to know of a place when something happens.

As in the beginning I mentioned that the world is becoming a ‘Bizzaro World’ because lie is given much priority than truth, superior is the one who has power but the superior and powerful do not bother to think of their duties and responsibilities. When a president or prime minister is elected, he is guarded and escorted while the public is left unheeded after elections.

Booking is continuing for the newly released movie titled ‘Uncle Sam Plans to Attack Iran’, so don’t miss a chance to get the ticket or at least set all the satellite channels at your home so that you could enjoy this movie with your family. Is Ahmedinejad more dangerous than Olmert? Has he ever threatened to invade any Muslim state? Currently what are the above-mentioned leaders doing? Ahmedinejad is on a foreign tour while Olmert has again started killing Palestinians and Lebanese. So who is dangerous? The difference is clear. But who cares in Bizzaro World?
